Mission-Critial DNS Hosting |
The DNS server is a vital link and point of ultimate network routing control. As an industry standard part of any mission-critical hosting, DNS servers must be hosted and operated by the mission-critical hosting company, CPrompt. Hosting and control of the DNS servers by CPrompt provides the following:
- Every website is hosted on multiple servers supported by redundant network hardware running over a diverse Internet route. As a result of this advanced network routing structure, the multiple IP addresses for any given website will change frequently and without notice.
- When one of our multiple diverse bandwidth vendors has a planned maintenance which will result in suboptimal routing, CPrompt’s automated network management system reroutes all traffic around this vendor thereby eliminating any impact on the website. The same automated rerouting will occur should a given bandwidth vendor incur an unexpected outage.
- As a requirement of mission-critical hosting, CPrompt performs regular preventive maintenance on all our equipment. Before any maintenance occurs, our automated network systems will reroute traffic around any affected network thereby eliminating any impact on the website.
- As part of our Quality of Service (QOS) bandwidth management systems, traffic is rerouted at the highest network levels outside of CPrompt’s networks as well as within CPrompt’s in-house networks. This expansive network routing control ensures balanced and smooth flowing traffic to and from any given website.
- Your DNS servers will be an integral part of CPrompt’s +99.99893% mission-critical network and benefit from all the inherent reliability and performance. If your DNS is hosted on a system of lower reliability your website may experience outages or brownouts if one or more of your DNS servers experiences a problem.
- If your DNS severs are not hosted and/or controlled by CPrompt's automated systems, your website will not be hosted at mission-critical standards and experience partial outages or brownout during events such as normally scheduled hardware maintenance or outages by bandwidth vendors.

Bandwidth Volume Bursting
Bandwidth volume bursting is available for $330 per 1Mbps per month per Internet connection.
Each 1Mbps unit of bandwidth = 328.5Gbytes of bandwidth volume (approximately 56 million page views).
Each fully redundant hosting setup runs two Internet connection, so bursting must be purchased in multiples of
two (1Mbps per server in CPrompt's redundant server arrays). Discounted pricing is available for customer who
will commit to addtional bandwidth volumes (see Additional Bandwidth Commitments).
Busting is available on all service Levels. Bursting is the ability to purchase additional
bandwidth on-demand to handle high surges in traffic (such as surges caused by television,
news website listings, or PR).
This additional bandwidth can typically be allocated in minutes after a request is made. Bandwidth is purchased in 1MBps units
per month per Internet connection (charges are not prorated). Bandwidth cannot
be divided up between the two or more separate Internet connections (for example: the standard pair of redundant Internet
connections which service all hosted websites). In all cases except throttled FTP bandwidth, bursting should be purchased
in equal amounts per Internet connection for maximum utility.
Bursting becomes necessary when either the total volume of bytes per month exceeds the hosting category or the amount of
intermittent sustained bandwidth required exceeds the intermittent sustained bandwidth for the category.
|
|
Additional Bandwidth Commitments
Additional bandwidth commitments beyond the top hosting categories can be purchased for
$200 per month per meg (328.5G bandwidth volume). A commitment matching the hosting contract terms is required and is
typically 12 months. Each fully redundant hosting setup runs two Internet connection, so additional bandwidth
commitments must be purchased in multiples of two (1Mbps per server in CPrompt's redundant server arrays).
Discounts are avaiable for clients who use more than 10Mbps per Internet connection (20Mbps total). Contact us for details.

Secured Network Pipes
These pipes are used to setup VPN connections for B2B and / or Real Time data Integration with a company’s internal backend systems such as accounting, fulfillment, or inventory control. These pipes can run up to 200Mbps (full duplex) - 2Gbps available for additional costs.
Nailed up VPN connections with 100% fail-over support for pushing DB data to remote systems is $950 one time startup fee
and $49/month (there will be additional costs for high bandwidth requirements).
These prices do not include data center setup, test, and debug labor.
These prices do not include purchase, setup, and installation of a compatible VPN firewall at your business location.
Dedicate pipes start at $3400.00 one time startup fees + $300/month per VPN-hub IP. A dedicated pipe is 100% isolated from all other circuits.
Bandwidth for all VPN connections is purchased as part of managed hosting services (see above). The bandwidth used by the VPN pipe is added to your hosting bandwidth to calculate month hosting fees.
*Dedicated pipes can also be used with out a VPN to host application servers which for unique reasons require complete isolation.

Policies and Setup Fees
|
- All fees listed above do not include setup charges, commercial software licensing, or software purchase costs. Collocated servers and shared hosting
installations require additional setup related fees - see below.
- A one-time setup fee of $150 is charged for all shared hosting. These fees do not cover configuration, setup, or troubleshooting of software or hardware that is not owned by CPrompt. This fee does not cover setup of FTP server accounts (if required), E-Mail Accounts (Forwarders/POP3/Anti-Spam), DNS, Domain Names, or other support services and (or) systems. This fee does not cover setup or deployment of the website or web application(s). This fee does not cover setup of credit card processing or any other connections to remote systems.
- A one-time setup fee of $150 is charged for online storage. This fee does not cover setup of FTP server accounts (if required).
- A one-time hosting setup fee of $150 is charged for each additional shared site added to an existing hosting contract.
- All hosting includes two IP addresses. A monthly fee of $20 is charged for each additional pair of IP addresses (or single address) added to an existing hosting contract.
- A one-time setup fee equal to one month’s fee plus $500 is charged for all semi-dedicated hosting ($500 fee waived on 24 month contracts). These fees do not cover configuration, setup, or troubleshooting of software or hardware that is not owned by CPrompt. This fee does not cover setup of FTP server accounts (if required), E-Mail Accounts (Forwarders/POP3/Anti-Spam), Domain Names, or other support services and (or) systems. This fee does not cover setup or deployment of the website or web application(s). This fee does not cover setup of credit card processing or any other connections to remote systems.
- Collocated server setup fees
- A $350 per server rack setup fee is charged for each colocated server for ports and (or) allocation of CPrompt system resources: KVM IP, Remote Control software, Remote Power Management, Monitoring probes, IDS & Firewall Security, QOS Bandwidth Management, Automatic IP Traffic routing fail-over. These fees do not cover costs for mounting hardware, cabling, or other installation related parts which are not supplied with the server(s).
- An estimated $995 labor is charge per e-commerce server cluster (2 or 3 servers).
This labor cost can vary and is an estimated cost for complete installation of a server cluster
(actual labor is billed hourly).
This labor covers setup of: KVM IP, Remote Control software, Remote Power Management, QOS Bandwidth Management, Monitoring probes,
Security, Automatic IP Traffic routing fail-over, DNS, SendSafe e-commerce software, and server racking (installation).
Additional servers installed at the same time will cost approximately $400/server. These fees do not
cover configuration, setup, or troubleshooting of software or hardware that is not owned by CPrompt. These
fees do not cover setup of both local and remote data backup (which is available and is strongly recommended).
- An estimated $495 labor is charge per application server.
This labor cost can vary and is an estimated cost for complete installation of an application server
(actual labor is billed hourly).
This labor covers setup of: KVM IP, Remote Control software, Remote Power Management, QOS Bandwidth Management, Monitoring probes,
Security, Automatic IP Traffic routing fail-over, DNS, and server racking (installation).
Additional servers installed at the same time will cost approximately $400/server. These fees do not
cover configuration, setup, or troubleshooting of software or hardware that is not owned by CPrompt. These
fees do not cover setup of both local and remote data backup (which is available and is strongly recommended).
- You can have as many servers as you like. We charge by rack space not the number of boxes you have. The rack space included for Collocated Servers in each service level is enough for two 1U servers (a total of 2U in rack space). We recommend the thin high performance 1U servers from Dell or IBM. Additional rack space for servers is available at a cost of $90/month per 1U (power, environmental, and rackspace).
- A one-time setup fee of $350 is charged for setup of the SendSafe Integrated E-Mail Broadcasting system with an existing SendSafe e-commerce website. Additional labor may be required.
- A one-time setup fee of $20 is charged for POP3 e-mailbox setup.
- A one-time setup fee of $10 is charged for SMTP Forwarder e-mail setup.
- A one-time setup fee of $5 is charged for each alias setup.
- A one-time setup fee of $50 per mailbox is charged for POP3 Challenge/Response Anti-SPAM setup using a CPrompt labeled challenge webpage plus approximately a $300 to $400 base setup fee which is billed as hourly labor. Customized challenge webpages can be developed (addition labor applies).
- All Service Levels require a 12 month contract.
- Peak bandwidth is a surge in bandwidth which is not sustained for any one 60 second period of contiguous usage and does not repeat more than a 5 times each hour. Peak bandwidth cannot be maintained for a full month without greatly exceeding the Bandwidth Volume limitations of an account.
- Intermittent Sustained daily bandwidth is a multiple of the specified bandwidth volume level divided by the average days in a month; this intermittent sustained daily bandwidth is calculated for any 24 hour period as long as usage is not contiguous for more than any one 24 hour period. This intermittent sustained level cannot be maintained for a full month without greatly exceeding the Bandwidth Volume limitations of an account.
- Customers with unusually bursty Internet usage will be required to purchase higher levels of monthly bandwidth and (or) bursting. This type of unusual bursting is typically due to exceptional marketing promotions and (or) advertising. There is an upper sustained bandwidth (Intermittent Sustained daily bandwidth) limit on all accounts which is defined in each hosting contract. Exceeding this limit will result in additional fees.
- Shared Server Hosting includes access to a database Server for database driven web content and SendSafe e-commerce system operation. Database server access is limited to normal levels of concurrency; additional monthly and (or) setup fees may apply in extreme cases.
- CPrompt currently calculates and adjusts hosting fees based on the last month of usage and average usage of the prior 3 months. We calculate this usage every month. This procedure can change without notice.
- The page views per month figures are provided only as a guide to which service level may suit your needs. The actual number of page views that are possible for a given service level can vary widely depending up such factors as image content and other non-html file downloads. Page views per month figures are not used by CPrompt as a measured of service level. The sole deciding metric used by CPrompt for service level categorization is bandwidth used per month.
- Bandwidth listed above includes all in and out bandwidth used by a client (this includes, but is not limited to: http, ftp, e-mail, streaming services, etc.).
- If you are collocating your own server at C Prompt (i.e. not using C Prompt's shared
servers), then the addition of a collocated secondary server is strongly recommended. Should your only server break, if a
collocated secondary server is not available then outages of 72 hours or longer must be anticipated. Without a collocated
secondary server you will not be able to take full advantage of CPrompt's automated fully redundant networking infrastructure
which could also result in additional outages of service.
- The fees above are assigned and allocated by units of usage are the means of gauging and estimating the monthly reoccurring
labor cost of maintaining a working website and network of appropriate scale and performance. These fees are not for Internet
access and do not include remote Internet access of any type. These fees do not include repairs or upgrades
to the website which will be invoiced separately. For collocated servers this fee also does not include updates to the
operating system, backend servers, and other software including service patches as well as hardware repair and maintenance,
all of which will be invoiced separately.
- Rates are subject to change with 30 days written notice as defined in client contract.
- Hosting fees are not prorated for partial months; regardless the date that service begins, charges are billed for the entire month.
|
The following items are not included above and will be billed at the applicable hourly rate.
- Developing new content or updating existing content
- Upgrading equipment or software and (or) adding new equipment or software on shared servers to meet a specified requested need of a client
- Upgrading, repairing, or maintaining collocated equipment or software
- Periodic updates and upgrades to e-commerce systems
- Configuration of e-mail, DNS, FTP, and other servers or services
